I'm very disappointed with this release. A hyper-condensed, movie-esque rendering of the classic 6-part anime series from Gainax, I paid a blu-ray price for a product and only got a DVD's worth of content out of it.

Zero extras on the disc. Not one.
Menu: Very limited
Plot Quality: Again, very limited.  I can't really be objective about it because I've seen (and own) the original series, but even with the few steps back I could take, the story looked choppy. It's like the Cliff's Notes version of the series, only understandable to those who are already familiar with the story.

On the plus side: The video quality is what I would expect from a converted, older series. The colors are bright (until it goes B&W toward the end) and the sound mix is good, but not Blu-Ray price worth of good.

In my opinion, this disc is only worth its price to a hard-core, true-blue fan of Gunbuster. The kind of otaku who has every art book, manga release, model, and poseable figure, and who Must have All Things Gunbuster.

For everyone else: Rent if if you've already seen the series.  If you're new to Gunbuster, rent the series instead. It is far more satisfying.
