Here is a piece of exciting book news!

I have had my first printed manuscript finally reach the market. (Just in time for the Twilight crowd and the True Blood enthusiasts who also Read!)
Yes, Blood Drive is a story with vampires and vampire hunters, but it also has magic, mayhem, cross-country chases, bioterrorism, blazing buildings and plenty of gunslinging.
All of that, and not a trace of garlic or holy water.

Update: Blood Drive has reached the Google and Yahoo search engines and is available in a number of online book shops

Here are some links to a few of those shops.

Wordclay.com, where it began: Wordclay.com's bookstore
Amazon in the US Amazon.com
Amazon in Canada Amazon.ca
Amazon in the UK Amazon.co.uk
Amazon in France Amazon.fr
Amazon in Germany Amazon.de
Amazon in Japan Amazon.jp
Kalahari.net
OneTrueBig.com
BarnesAndNoble.com
Powells.com
Biblio.com
Betterworld.com (which offers Carbon Neutral Shipping)

I welcome feedback and reviews from those who get a chance to read a copy.

I received my author's copies today. It feels a bit surreal to actually hold the physical book in my hand after seeing it in my Word window for so long. Perhaps it is just vanity, but today I feel pretty damn good for a change.

If I'm ever put in a position where those in power actually listen to me, I'll try my best not to pound them senseless for unleashing the horrors that were Flash Gordon and Knight Rider.

It's a strange enough world, so I can't say it would never be possible....

It listed on Amazon.com a short while ago.

Blood Drive on Amazon.com

Still not on Google, but it's another step. Looking forward to seeing it on amazon.co.uk. I think the local libraries here might get me some newsprint coverage. It might get a few Christmas sales after all. Smiley  I only hope it is well received.

Where to find it (updated):

Here are a few of the places I've learned that Blood Drive has been listed for purchase (or pre order, in some cases):

Wordclay.com, where it began: Wordclay.com's bookstore
Amazon in the US Amazon.com
Amazon in Canada Amazon.ca
Amazon in the UK Amazon.co.uk
Amazon in France Amazon.fr
Amazon in Germany Amazon.de
Amazon in Japan Amazon.jp
Kalahari.net
OneTrueBig.com
BarnesAndNoble.com
Powells.com
Biblio.com
Betterworld.com (which offers Carbon Neutral Shipping)

By and large, Amazon seems to offer the best price, with the book qualifying for free shipping in some instances or with a minimal additional purchase. Post-Christmas promotional discounts might make for additional savings on some sites.

The sales figures for the first quarter of 2009 are in.

Disappointment does not even come close, although the feedback, reviews, and comments remain highly positive. I've spent more on mailing review copies than I have recouped in royalties. Smells like insufficient/ineffective marketing to me. I can't blame everything on the economy.

A sequel is in the works but might be slow getting to the printers if the second quarter is as weak as the first.

We'll see.

Blood Drive has picked up a bit of steam in the third quarter of '09. Apparently having two novels out has broadened their appeal. Fascinating how that works.

Now if I could just get one optioned for a movie deal...
